‘Posh’ by Laura Wade, In anticipation of our next performance in Seoul, Korea

Official poster image: Posh tells the story of the members of the Riot Club, a secret society that only the most elite students are allowed to join. They are students at a prestigious university with lots of money, but their inner lives are far from elegant or noble.

A well-received British play, despite the difficult market in Seoul’s theatre industry, ‘Posh’ is now planning for its next season. The gender-free casting is one of the biggest attractions of ‘Posh’ – male and female actors are cast together in the same role, which makes for a different experience depending on the version. It’s also worth noting that the girls in ‘Posh’ are vastly different from most of the women who have been portrayed on the theatre stage.

When it premiered at London’s Royal Court (465 seats), it caused a stir when it was later revealed that the Prime Minister’s Office had secretly sent someone to monitor it. What the original writer wanted to say through the play was about, we thought, #highsociety #money #rich #Oxford #education #elitism #Britishsocialclass #taboos.

We’ve seen the potentials of the show through showcases with select industry professionals and a small number of public audiences, and we’ve had a really tough time getting to this show this year, so we’re looking forward to bringing it back to Seoul again as soon as possible.
